Choosing Peaceful Community Fish That Get Along

AQUAPETS · 15 June 2026

A peaceful community tank is about more than picking pretty fish — it's about matching needs.

Match the water, not just the look

Group species with overlapping temperature and pH ranges. Neon tetras, panda corydoras and pearl gouramis, for example, all enjoy soft, slightly acidic water around 24–26 °C.

Mind the swimming zones

Combine top, middle and bottom dwellers so the whole tank feels alive and no one crowds anyone else. Always keep schooling fish in groups of six or more to reduce stress and nipping.

Quarantine new arrivals

A two-week quarantine protects your established fish from disease. It's the single best habit a fishkeeper can build.
